Use Push E-mail and Facebook App without activating Globe's Edge or GPRS?
Is there a way to use Push E-mail and Facebook App without activating Globe's Edge or GPRS?
Is this possible?
Globe says that GPRS will be automatically activated to compensate for weak WiFi signals.
True enough. I tried it. I opened the Facebook app on my iPhone. Both APN deleted and Wi-Fi turned off.
It still managed to connect.
I'm one of those victims who only turned 3G off, and not the APN.
Help.
Thanks.

Instead of deleting the apn, add some ramdom text like internet. glo&@&be.com.ph, this will make it impossible to use the edge/gprs/3g of
globe and force wifi. Simply deleting it would use the default apn which would allow you to connect

Thanks Chizbol!
Just did that.
So, there's really no other way to update Facebook and check e-mail but to use iPhone's Safari on a WifI hotspot?

Short answer: none, long answer: facebook (or any app that needs the internet on the iphone) once launched will try to open a connection in this
sequence wifi/3g/edge/gprs. When none can be found there will be no update and the message "you are not subscribed to cellular data
network" (or something like that) will be displayed.

chizboi is right. after changing the apn, i tried YM, FB, and maps. They all returned a message saying i cant connect to the internet and i dont have
a connection to cellular data network.
i think it means that my attempts to be in vain are successful. )
