What is the smartest way to own an Iphone3gs?

I would go straight to the point here. What is the smartest way to own an iphone here in the Philippines?

Is it to buy it in the states (say, from relatives who can get the AT&T plans) and have it unlocked here? Buy the unlocked unit in cellphone stalls in malls? or

Buy it with Globe through a plan? If it is the latter, which plan is the bang for the buck? Is installment with Globe possible?
